Overview

Our Camino begins in Paris, France.  Participants will spend two (2) days exploring the city of Paris.  We shall then fly from Paris to the Mediterranean coastal town of Almería, in the Andalusian region of Spain. Participants will hike 186 kilometers from Granada to Córdoba, Spain where we will explore the current culture and historic Islamic civilization and architecture.  From Córdoba we shall board a train to León Spain, where we will join the traditional Camino Frances and complete the 331 km hike to Santiago de Compostela (the Grand Cathedral of St. James) covering a distance of 520 kilometers or 321 miles. During the carefully planned itinerary of six weeks, students will explore Paris, Granada, Córdoba, León, Santiago, and the Atlantic coast of Finisterre; as well as twenty-one (21) villages along the path of the pilgrimage to explore their historical and cultural legacies. This journey is proposed to meet several goals of higher education, as well as the Public Affairs Mission of Missouri State University: learning how to expand horizons independently, striving to foster cultural competence and community engagement, and to pursue individual interests and passions.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial Aid and scholarships are only available to currently enrolled MSU students. If you are a visiting student from another institution, you will need to work with your home institution Financial Aid Office to identify any available aid.

Scholarships:
The seven colleges at Missouri State University are pleased to announce their respective Study Away Scholarships. A scholarship fund has been established by MSU’s President, International Programs, and the respective college to assist students with their study abroad. Search available college scholarships here!

Other Financial Aid:
Study Away Programs works closely with the Office of Financial Aid to make funding readily available for our study away students.  Before students can schedule an appointment with Financial Aid, you must submit an approved STFD Budget Worksheet to Study Away Programs.

Study Away students may be able to use their institutional aid, grants, or loans for their study abroad.  Students are encouraged to meet with Financial Aid as soon as possible to plan appropriately for their time abroad.  Please request a Study Away Financial Aid Counselor when making an appointment.
