Program Description:
The College of Arts and Letters (COAL) at Missouri State University is pleased to announce its 2016-2017 Study Away Scholarships. A scholarship fund has been established by MSU’s President, International Programs, and the College of Arts and Letters. Students may use awards to help cover expenses directly related to study away education, including transportation to and within the host country, lodging, tuition and supplies.

Study Away anticipates that fall 2017 college scholarships will be fully funded. However, MSU administrators will make funding decisions in late spring or early summer. Study Away encourages students to complete the simple scholarship application prior to the March 1 deadline so that awards can be confirmed as scholarship funds are made available.

Scholarships are need- and merit-based. Students are eligible to apply for the COAL Study Away Scholarship if they meet all of the following criteria:
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • You are enrolled in an approved Study Away program (year-long, semester, summer, or short-term) and meet the eligibility requirements of Study Away and your specific program
  • You complete the entire online application, including a 200-500 word essay and a brief endorsement from your academic advisor or faculty member by the application deadline
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria (preference will be given in the following order):
  • Declared COAL majors (Undergraduate then Graduate)
  • Declared COAL minors participating in a faculty directed program
  • Global Studies majors
  • Students from other colleges who choose a COAL faculty directed program
All required components of your application must be complete and submitted by the deadline. NO EXCEPTIONS.
